Communion
Whether you are a believer or unbeliever in Christ, The
Spirit of God will lead you through your conscience. If you are an unbeliever, He will lead you to
salvation. The Apostle Paul says that
the conscience of unbelievers reveal to them the law of God, condemning or
condoning their behavior. But the
unbeliever, being separated from God, will never be at peace until reconciled
to God through faith in Christ. His
conscience will lead him to the despair of damnation, seeking the forgiveness
of salvation that only comes through Christ.
If you are believer, He will lead you to sanctification, as it is written by the Apostle Paul, “I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense towards God and man.”
If you are believer, He will lead you to sanctification, as it is written by the Apostle Paul, “I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense towards God and man.”
As Watchman Nee said, “The first step towards sanctification
is to be faithful to your conscience.”
Once you are ALWAYS faithful to your conscience (or ALWAYS
faithful to start over when you’ve ignored it.) you can be faithful to your intuition,
or spiritual revelations. In other
words, the Spirit will directly lead you so that you simply know where to go
and what to do. The key word is
KNOW. It will be clearly from the
Spirit. If it is not clear, it is not
from the Spirit. Having been faithful to
your conscience, you will have this clarity from the Spirit.
Mature intuition leads to communion, or direct conversation.
In other words, instead of the “red
light/green light” of conscience, simply warning you to avoid certain
situations, and instead of the clear impressions of intuition, where you have absolute
certain revelation, you will experience an intimate conversation with the Spirit,
one in which you and He, having been faithful to His leading, converse about
all life.
Understand this:
In “Moral Issues,” the word of God, the Bible , is already
clear on the general things:
Love God with all your heart and soul and strength.
Love your neighbor as yourself.
You don’t need the Spirit lead you in loving God supremely
and loving people impartially.
But in “Ethical Issues,” everyday choices between more than
one right option, you need the moment by moment leading of the Spirit, as it is
written,
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your
own understanding. In all your ways
acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.
