One of the Best Ways To Honor God's Holiness (Part 1)

When you did these things and I kept silent, you thought I was exactly like you. But I now arraign you and set my accusations before you. Psalms 50:21

As C.S. Lewis said,

"In God you come up against something which is in every respect immeasurably superior to yourself. Unless you know God as that—and, therefore, know yourself as nothing in comparison—you do not know God at all. As long as you are proud you cannot know God."

This is God's Holiness.  His utter uniqueness. Unimaginableness.  We never have and never will be able to conceive or conceptualize who and what God really and utterly is.  If we can imagine Him, we are wrong, by definition.  He is who He is.  And we are made in His image and likeness, Christ being the perfect image of the Invisible God and the Exact Representation of His Being. To see Jesus is to see the Father.  To see us, as we imitate Jesus, is to see what God intended us to be:  conformed to the image of Christ.  Now here is where the reality of being holy comes in.  Here's where we test our respect for the holiness of God.

Remember, holiness is ultimately "differentness," or set apartness.  It means only God is God and He is without category.  He is His own Category.  Now you and I are like Him, and where we have problems in life is when we think everyone should think, speak, and act just like we think, speak and act.  We commit the ultimate sin when we apply this pridefulness even to God, thinking He is exactly like us. What do we do about this?  How do we resist the pride of making ourselves God, and wanting everyone, including God, to conform to our image and likeness?  What is one of the best ways to honor God's holiness?
