The Key Strategy of The Devil (Part 2)

Watch again:

The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread."
Matthew 4:3

There he goes again!  He not only questions whether Jesus is God's son, but he gives Jesus a command assuming Jesus must prove who He is?  After all, God already said these words to Jesus, "You are my beloved Son.  With you I am well pleased."

Where did the serpent, the tempter, get the authority to question God's word in both situations?

He didn't have it!
He doesn't have it!

The assumption of Satan is authority that he does not have!

Only One has authority, and there is only One Source of authority, as it is written,
  • Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me."  Matthew 28:18
  • Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. Romans 13:1
As Jesus said, "Those who speak from their own authority seek their own glory."

To assume authority is the devil's key strategy.
Satan speaks from his own authority for his own glory.
So do those who follow him and imitate him in this world.

Resist him and them whenever they question or command you.
Submit to God alone, and to those God established as His authorities.
