How to Know Your God Given Skill (An Afterthought)

Don't get me wrong from the first post about your God given skills.

Natural and supernatural abilities both come from God.

If you were born with musical ability, it is a God given ability.
But musical ability isn't "supernatural," and it isn't exclusive to God's children.
They can be learned naturally as well as come naturally, for believers and unbelievers.

But "spiritual gifts" don't come from natural birth.  They aren't learned through classes.  And unbelievers don't have them.

Your God given ability is the spiritual gift you received when you believed in Jesus.

These may incorporate or recreate your natural ability.  You may have had a natural talent with words that becomes a part of your spiritual gift with words.  But there will be a difference between the talent with words you had when you were physically born, and the new talent with words you have after being spiritually reborn.

One will clearly be a talent with words that a believer or nonbeliever could have.  Hitler could speak so well he was hypnotizing. The other will be the ability to communicate the truth clearly.  And as we saw in the last blog, God is the only origin of truth.  His word alone is truth.  Naturally talented speakers or writers are good at knowing and expressing themselves--their own thoughts, feelings, and desires.  Supernaturally talented speakers or writers are good at knowing expressing God's thoughts, feelings, and desires, which can only come from God, as it is written,

"For who knows a person's thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God."  1 Corinthians 2:11

All of your talents, skills, and abilities come from God, meaning things you just knew how to do without being taught, just by being yourself.  The things you love to do and do very well. The difference is between your natural gifts and spiritual gifts.  One has to do with you. The other has to do with God.
