Meeting with God: What I learned from Salli and Lucy (Part 2)

GOD
Moses "had a date," a meeting with God.  He deliberately took a tent and pitched it outside the camp, away from everyone else, away from every other tent.  He called this tent outside of the camp away from everyone else the "tent of meeting."  Moses went there to meet with God.  Not his wife, his children, his people, or his dog.  God.  He didn't bring anything with him to do, or plan.  He didn't bring any business he needed to get caught up on.

It was obvious to everyone what Moses was doing, because the word of God says,

"And whenever Moses went out to the tent, all the people rose and stood at the entrance to their tents, watching Moses until he entered the tent.  As Moses went into the tent, the pillar of cloud would come and stay at the entrance, while the LORD spoke with Moses." Exodus 33:8-9

Moses was meeting with God.  And God was meeting with Moses.  Both were making it obvious.

The same can be true for us.  Listen to the words of Jesus:
"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.  But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."  Matthew 6:5-6

The hypocrites prayed to be seen by people as righteous and pious.  They brought a dog, in case God didn't show up.  But when you go to your room and "pitch a tent outside of the camp," calling it a "tent of meeting," you go to be with God alone.  You want to be seen by God alone, where He is, in the "the secret place."  This may be your bedroom, a private bathroom, a private area at your job, or the privacy of your own mind.  Where ever this place is, inside of you or outside of you, only God knows where it is, and only God hears your prayers.

You are obviously and only meeting with God.  And He is obviously and only meeting with you.
