If I Were A Slave: A Tribute To My Redeemer and Ancestors (7)

Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?  Romans 6:16

What is freedom?  It is the liberty to choose your master.

This is where we went astray in America.

The British rightly renounced an tyrannical king, but did not replace him with the King of Kings.  This is why those who fled tyranny became tyrants, committing genocide on the natives, and oppressing those from Africa.

The Africans rightly renounced white slave masters, but didn't replace the satanic masters with the True Master, Jesus Christ the Redeemer.  We forgot the God of our weary years and silent tears and are now drunk with the wine of the world.

We must do what we did not do:  Choose our true master, refuse every satanic master.

  • The first master we must renounce is our own sinful desires, which is the truest source of oppression.
  • Then we must renounce this world, this matrix of lies, where the kingdom of darkness seeks to blot out the kingdom of light.
  • Finally, we must renounce Satan, the oppressor, the false master, the tyrannical overseer.

As it is written, "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm then, and do not yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."

The only way to be free is to use Christ's liberty to choose your master.

If I were a slave, then or now, my only liberation would be in choosing Christ as my master.

This is my answer.

What is yours?
